Yoko Ono Says John Lennon Had Desire To Sleep With Men
Yoko Ono says John Lennon had a desire to sleep with men, but never did because he could never find a man that was "attractive enough."
Ono made the revelation on her husband's long-rumored bisexuality in a candid interview with the Daily Beast on Tuesday.
"The beginning of the year he was killed, he said to me, 'I could have done it, but I can't because I just never found somebody that was that attractive,'" said Ono. "Both John and I were into attractiveness - you know - beauty."
Ono doesn't think lack of attraction was actually the reason Lennon never "sealed the deal" with a man, however.
"I think he had a desire to, but I think he was too inhibited," she said. "No, not inhibited. He said, 'I don't mind if there's an incredibly attractive guy.' It's very difficult: They would have to be not just physically attractive, but mentally very advanced too. And you can't find people like that."
Both Lennon and Ono believed bisexuality was innate but that societal norms kept most people from embracing their feelings.
"John and I had a big talk about it, saying, basically, all of us must be bisexual. And we were sort of in a situation of thinking that we're not (bisexual) because of society," Ono said. "So we are hiding the other side of ourselves, which is less acceptable."
Ono also opened up about the rumored romance between her husband and Beatles manager Brian Epstein, saying Epstein likely "made a move" on John - who likely "just didn't want to do it" with him.
As for her own sexuality, Ono says she has never had a "strong sexual dire" toward another woman.
