Casey had been traveling across the U.S. and painted/drew on natural rock formations at Rocky Mountain National Park, and Colorado National Monument, Yosemite National Park, Death Valley National Park, and Joshua Tree National Park, all in California; Crater Lake National Park, in Oregon; Zion National Park and Canyonlands National Park, both in Utah. These paintings had been confirmed by the National Park Service.

The painting was of a woman with a cigarette hanging from her mouth.

Nocket, 23, used Instagram and Tumblr to document her work which caused understandable outrage on social media. Casey faced a judge in her home city of Fresno, CA where she entered a guilty plea for defacing the rocks. She will be serving two years' probation and 200 hours of community service. How much she owes comes at a later trial date.
