The next time the WWE rolls through Denver, it could be a whole lot different now that Vince McMahon has "temporarily" stepped down as WWE CEO amid the current investigation regarding alleged misconduct.

Vince McMahon No Longer CEO Of WWE?

If you're a wrestling fan like I've been since I was just a kid, or even if you're not, you've probably heard the name, Vince McMahon. Vince took a smaller wrestling company that his father, Vince senior, began back in the 1950s, and turned it into the juggernaut wrestling and entertainment company it is today. Even in his 70's now, Vince McMahon is very involved in the company as both the CEO and head of creative for TV storylines and beyond. News broke earlier this week that has thrown a wrench in his current run and has forced him to, at least temporarily, step down as acting CEO of the WWE. Is it really temporary though?

Vince McMahon Steps Down As WWE CEO

WWE Corporate announced the following:

Effective immediately, McMahon has voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board until the conclusion of the investigation. McMahon will retain his role and responsibilities related to WWE’s creative content during this period and remains committed to cooperating with the review underway.

As seen in the tweet above from Bleacher Report, McMahon is being investigated for paying off a former employee whom he is being accused of having an affair with. According to Bleacher Report, the employee in question was hired as a paralegal in 2019 and her salary was allegedly increased as their relationship went to the next level. Once the alleged relationship ended, the hush money came in the form of $1 million dollars, with $2 million more to be paid over the next 5 years according to the person who tipped off the board.

In the interim, Stephanie McMahon, Vince's daughter, will be returning from a recent hiatus to assume the role of Interim CEO and chairwoman. WWE Announced shortly after Vince's voluntarily stepping back from the CEO role that he would be appearing live on Friday Night Smackdown on Fox. One would assume it won't have anything to do with the current investigation but we'll all be tuned in just in case.

The fact that they list him by his on-air character name, "Mr. McMahon," tells me it will be storyline related and not his real-life drama. Could we have seen the last of Vince McMahon as the WWE CEO?
