Whitewater Adventure Park & Resort in Loveland Springs a Leak
Getting Loveland's Whitewater Adventure Park off the ground and into the water seems to have become an adventure of its own.
The park has been a project since 2015, and in June we let you know that the Whitewater Adventure Park was closer to becoming a reality. Since then, plans have taken a step backward when it comes to developing it.
The Reporter-Herald has the story of how the development company, based in Arizona, that they had on board for the project got into legal trouble. A key officer has been indicted in a fraud scheme, so that developer won't be involved in Loveland's project any further.
The project is now in search of a new developer. Water Valley's Martin Lind was recently asked to take a look at the project, but no further movement on his part is expected soon; McWhinney is another option for the project.
The project is budgeted to cost about $200 million; about half of that coming from a tourism grant. Many tourists, indeed, would be coming to Loveland to visit the Whitewater Adventure Park, west of I-25 and Highway 34, featuring:
- Zip Lines
- High Ropes Course
- Olympic-Standard Swiming Channel
- Conference Center
- Cabana Island
- Outdoor Deck
- Adventure River
Centerra currently owns the land where the park and resort would go, but there is the possibility that the City of Loveland will buy the land.
