The Weld County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a burglary in process on Thursday, September 8. The incident occurred near the 13000 block of Weld County Road 2 located north of Brighton when the homeowners came home to find a broken window and heard noises coming from the basement.

Deputies arrived at the residence and searched the home while making announcements without finding anyone in the house. After a Weld County deputy returned to the basement with the homeowners, they found what was making the noises. A coyote.

The coyote was found behind the water heater in the basement after breaking the window and making its way into the home. Under the guidance of Colorado Parks and Wildlife and a catchpole from the Brighton Police department, the coyote was captured.

The coyote was released unharmed into a nearby field behind the home. The incident was captured on film for the world to see:

Hopefully, this rambunctious coyote, nicknamed Wile E. Coyote, has learned a valuable lesson in not entering a home. The Weld County Sheriff's Office Facebook shared the incident stating that they could have left the coyote for a pest removal company, which would have been a hefty expense to the homeowner. Instead, Weld County Sheriff's Office deputies hatched a plan to safely get the coyote out of the home without harm.

Take a Virtual Tour of Colorado Ghost Town Gilman

WARNING: Under no circumstances should you enter this property. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.

If you've ever made the trip over Battle Mountain from Minturn to Leadville, you've probably noticed an old abandoned town on the side of the hill. That town is known as Gilman and was abandoned in 1985 because of contamination from the mine.

Because of this, the town is closed to the public and it is illegal to go there. However, as made evident by the massive amount of graffiti and homemade videos of the town, not everyone follows the rules. Here's a look inside the abandoned town of Gilman, Colorado.
