Weld County Reports First Flu Death Of 2013-14 Season in Colorado
Sad news today as Weld County is reporting the first flu-related death of the 2013-2014 flu season.
KDVR reports the same news and added that the victim had no other health conditions and that this strain of flu was the same strain as the one that caused the 2009 flu pandemic.
This is the first death in Colorado from the flu this year, and three more people are hospitalized right now due to the flu in Weld County.
Our hearts go out the the friends and family of the young adult that was lost today.
According to the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment,
Every year in the United States, on average 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications, and; about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications.
