Finally, I'll be able to use the phrase "who's your daddy" in a somewhat dignified context! Last night the wife and I had a 22-week ultrasound and found out we'll be the proud parents of a little girl around Valentine's Day!

This is probably some of the most exciting news I've ever received. There is so much excitement, yet so much uncertainly. I think I've finally come to the realization that I'm going to be responsible for a whole other little person...for life! That's a lot of pressure!Being a first time parent I already feel like I'm in over my head, but I know I'm not the only one. So, you'll be hearing plenty from me on my forthcoming adventures in fatherhood and I'll probably be looking for lots of help and ideas.

First issue to address is a name. Good names are hard to come up with; even harder when your wife is a teacher and has thousands of associations of names with "good" or "bad" kids. For now, we're simply referring to her as 'Beansprout' until we settle on that perfect name.

I'm just elated right now. Anyone who knows my history knows this has been a long, frustrating journey. Let's just say chemotherapy and fatherhood make for bad bedfellows. (Guess what cancer? I win again!)

So, because I have no idea what I am in for what would be your first piece of advice for a dad-to-be?
