Watch World’s Largest Firework Explode Over Steamboat, Colorado

For a state with so many firework bans and restrictions, it's a little bit ironic that Colorado now holds the Guinness World Record for biggest firework. 

Last year, Steamboat residents aimed to set off the world's largest firework, but the attempt backfired after the firework failed to properly launch.

However, the pyrotechnic enthusiasts in the Colorado ski town didn't let that bring them down. They were determined to shoot for the stars, and one year later, Steamboat got the world record, set on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Congrats to James Cowden Widmann, Eric Krug, Ed MacArthur and Tim Borden for this (literally) massive accomplishment.

According to KKTV, the record was previously held in the United Arab Emirates, set in 2018.

'The 2,800-pound shell flew 2,200 feet above the Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival before it burst on Saturday night,' KKTV reported. 'Guinness World Records representatives witnessed and certified the record.'
