Someone with a knack for photoshopping pictures has sent McDonald's into a frenzy of social media public relations repair after a bogus flyer went viral.

The picture makes it appear that a McDonald's store posted a flayer stating, "As an insurance measure due in part to a recent string of robberies, African-American customers are now required to pay an additional fee of $1.50 per transaction.”
I saw this story from Fox 31 news.  Their story gives some of McDonald's responses to the incident:

That pic is a senseless & ignorant hoax,” McDonald’s said in one of several Twitter message on the topic. “McD’s values ALL our customers. Diversity runs deep in our culture on both sides of the counter.”

Now, what probably started as a small prank someone made on their computer has created a public relations disaster for the fast food chain. Oops.

I'm sure there are plenty of people that have seen or will see that doctored photo and believe it. But, I can guarantee that if any major fast food company had a store that posted a memo like this there would be more than a few pink slips waiting at the store the next day.
