Investigators have determined the manner of a shooting in Weld County on Sunday, which resulted in a 12-year-old boy getting shot in his side.

According to a press release from the Weld County Sheriff's Office, the shooting in the 29000 block of WCR 20 southeast of Longmont was a result of an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot that occurred while hunting.

The investigation is ongoing, but no one has been charged criminally.

The boy was rushed to Children's Hospital in Aurora after the incident, which occurred at around 6 p.m. Sunday. WCSO says he is in stable condition, and there is no threat to the safety of the public.
