University of Northern Colorado men’s basketball coach B.J. Hill was fired Thursday morning because of alleged NCAA violations involving his program.

The Greeley Tribune reports that UNC president Kay Norton and athletic director Darren Dunn, self-reported the alleged infractions. The investigation does not involve any other sport at UNC.

It’s expected that the Bears may lose postseason eligibility for at least one season and possibly lose scholarship money. A national search for the position is underway.

Hill became the Bears’ head coach in 2010 after serving as an assistant to former UNC coach Tad Boyle, who left to take the men’s head coaching position at the University of Colorado. He just completed the first year of five-year extension to his contract.
