The UCHealth Greeley Hospital is celebrating a year of firsts amid an unprecedented pandemic in Colorado, a challenge for all of their new employees.

In a press release, hospital employees reminisce about the first moments of UCHealth Greeley: the first baby born within 16 hours of its doors opening, for example. However, COVID-19 arriving such a short time after opening is a challenge for any new healthcare center, and this is an emergency UCHealth Greeley had to immediately adapt to in order to care for their patients.

While many states are seeing an influx of new cases, UCHealth Greeley says that after the intitial panic, things are starting to settle down at their location. Thanks to that same press release, it was stated that:

While the hospital remains on alert and prepared to care for an uptick in patients with COVID-19 should that happen, most of the patients there now are being treated for other conditions and injuries.

President of the hospital, Marilyn Shock, said, "There were some difficult and dark days, but our providers and staff persevered and brought their best selves to the bedside of many very sick patients to care for them and their families with compassion and expertise."

We are grateful for all of our healthcare workers here in Northern Colorado, and wish UCHealth Greeley a very happy first birthday.
