If you pass by the Elizabeth Hotel in Old Town Fort Collins on April 7 and 8, you'll hear and see plenty of peculiar things.

Townsquare Media Radio DJs will be taking over the rooftop, broadcasting New Country 99.1, Retro 102.5, 99.9 The Point, 94.3 The X and Power 102.9 from up above over a 36-hour span — with some DJs spending the night inside of a tent on top of the 111 Chestnut Street roof.

As the DJ's are raising awareness for local nonprofit Realties For Children in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, pedestrians passing by can help the cause. A bucket will be lowered up and down from the roof, accepting donations for the essential organization that provided emergency funding for 5,618 children in 2020.

Blue Federal Credit Union & Lion Home Service will be matching the first $25,000 in donations. The funds will help provide emergency funding and programs to Larimer County youth who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or are at-risk.

Donors can also contribute online. A silent auction raising funds as part of the promotion is already underway —  you can even purchase the rooftop camping equipment graciously donated by Scheels.

The rooftop will also host live musical performances and the 2021 Triumph Awards, celebrating children who have been positively aided by Realities For Children services. Townsquare Media DJs will be sharing a handful of uplifting stories from the program on air and digitally over the next week.

As part of the campaign, you will see 10,000 blue pinwheels across Northern Colorado. The blue pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention.

The need for Realities For Children in our community is larger than one might imagine.

"The impact I have seen over the years working in this field is pretty extensive," said Deb DeLuca-Forzley, who has worked for Larimer County Child Protection Services for more than 30 years.

"Child abuse and prevention has been around for years and years, and it has changed over time. We all need a little help sometimes and there needs to be no shame in asking for help."
