This afternoon the Coloradoan was reporting about the horrendous smell coming from Center Lake, near Fossil Creek Park. The cause of the smell is a bit of a mystery and aside from testing, the city plans on sending a diver to the bottom to make sure the aerators are working properly. (Which were put in to help alleviate the smell a few years back.)

If I were any kind of diver on the city's speed dial I would be booking a vacation to get out of town!

Simply driving by the stinky lake is bad enough, but if you told me I was going to actually go for a swim in it and take a look around the depths of dead plant life at the bottom, I'd say you're crazy.

(If you don't know where Center Lake is, go take a drive near Fossil Creek Park, and to quote Toucan Sam, "Just follow your nose!")

On it's best day that thing smells like rotten eggs and fermenting dairy products right now. I do hope they can figure out a way to tame the stench. But the guy (or gal) they suit up for a dip in that thing deserves some sort of medal. I've seen things on Fear Factor I'd rather do than that.
