December snow in Colorado usually isn't a big deal. It's expected and something that is just part of life...except for this year. We have now gone (as of today, Wednesday December 8th...229 days without measurable snowfall in Denver) and outside of a light dusting a couple of weeks ago here in NoCo, we've been snow-free as well.

According to our friends at The Denver Channel, that could all change come Thursday night into Friday morning as a fairly strong cold front is expected to blow through on Thursday and bring a real possibility of some measurable snow to Denver and up and down the Front Range.

Not a ton of snow is expected for us along the Front Range but any little bit helps our drought stricken state. The mountains are expected to be hit with much more snow which is a beautiful thing in more ways than one.

Late Wednesday afternoon, some of the higher mountain passes could see 2 to 5 inches of snow, while the eastern Front Range slopes and foothills could see wind gusts of 50-65 miles per hour. (So don't bother doing your hair that day...it will be pointless)

It's so crazy to me that we have barely had any cold air and snow and we're just a couple of weeks from Christmas.

This year has already set the record by a longshot for the latest first snowfall in Denver, and November was one of the warmest and driest on record for Denver and NoCo.
