The Riskiest Red-Light Running States, Is Colorado On the List?

The week of July 4th is the riskiest holiday travel period of the year for red-light running according to a study by the National Coalition for Safer Roads. We found the top four states where red-light running ranks the highest during the first week of July.

Is Colorado on the list?

1. California – 42.6% more red-light violations occur during the Fourth of July travel period than the lowest ranked holiday travel period in the state (Super Bowl).
2. Florida – 39% more red-light violations occur during the Fourth of July travel period than the lowest ranked holiday travel period in the state (Christmas).
3. Maryland – 38% more red-light violations occur during the Fourth of July travel period than the lowest ranked holiday travel period in the state (Super Bowl).
4. Texas – 37.8% more red-light violations occur during the Fourth of July travel period than the lowest ranked holiday travel period in the state (Super Bowl).

Colorado’s highest red-light running holiday is Memorial Day Weekend. Arizona was the only state that didn’t trend in having the highest percentage of red-light runners during the first week in July.
