Teacher Resigns and Sues Due To Fear Of Kids

Of all the things to be afraid of... 61-year-old Maria C. Waltherr-Willard was a high school teacher until her district reassigned her to junior high. No big deal right? Well, it was for Maria because she suffers from pedophobia, which is a fear of children and yes it is a real thing.     Kind of an odd fear for a teacher to have right? Well, apparently it is so serious that she resigned and is now suing the school district saying that they discriminated against her age and her disability and that they pressured her to resign.

She said she has suffered from the condition since the 90's and the district said that she wouldn't teach below high school level. She also has documents from her doctors and psychiatrists that she experiences stress, anxiety, chest pains, vomiting, nightmares and high blood pressure when she’s around kids.
