Taylor Swift gave a few hundred fans the concert of a lifetime when she performed at TIME's 100 Gala on Tuesday (April 23).

Backed by her acoustic guitar and piano, Swift performed five songs from her hit discography, including, "Style," "Delicate," "Love Story," "New Year's Day," and "Shake It Off."

The pop star commanded the room and spoke in between each song, joking with the audience at one point that nobody should look when she had to take off her shoes to play the piano.

"I've always known it was the main pillar of ... my sanity," she said about the importance of songwriting. "I always looked at writing as sort of a protective armor, which is weird, because [when] you think of writing about your life, that's usually a vulnerability. But, I think that when you write about your life, it gives you the ability to process your life. I use it as a way of justifying things that have happened to me, whether they're good or bad. I like to honor the good times and process the bad times."

During the event, attendees shared images and videos of Swift on social media. At one point, Swift was seen speaking with Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh. (Swift is a huge fan of the show, and even named one of her cats after the character Meredith Grey.)

The performer also mentioned how she was shaken that Oh was in attendance, right before performing "Love Story." During her set, Swift also praised Khalid's latest album, Free Spirit. She was photographed talking to the musician after his performance earlier in the evening.

Interestingly — and something that the untrained eye may not have picked up on — the new acoustic guitar she performed with featured the exact same hearts seen on her website's countdown to April 26, the date she is rumored to release new music.
