Taste Of Fort Collins Band Spotlight: Talisker Skye

Join us this weekend for the 15th Annual First National Bank Taste Of Fort Collins at Civic Center Park in Old Town Fort Collins.  The festivities run from 11am-9pm on Saturday and 11am-8pm on Sunday.

Aside from all the great food, vendors, crafts, beer, wine, and the Kidz Zone there will be great live music throughout the weekend. We are continuing to highlight all the bands playing so you can get as excited as we are that they’ll be taking the stage.

Can you have a local ‘super group?’ Because the first act on tap for this year’s festivities could certainly be billed as one. Say hello to 'Talisker Skye'.

Talisker Skye draws their name from a beautiful piece of land in the British Isles known for its whiskey. They are a trio of multi-talented singer songwriters out to make genuine and honest music.

According to one of the band’s members, Buck Dubs, the band started very organically. All three members have made names for themselves with other area bands.  Buck Dubs with ‘Give ‘Er Hell,’ Sean Kennedy with ‘Tickle Me Pink,’ and Kira with ‘The Tramps,’ ‘Hermanas De Los Muertos’ and ‘The Murderaarrrs.’  And their paths have crossed for the simple want to make good music.

I asked Dubs “What we should expect from a Talisker Skye Show?” His answer,

I think people are going to be very blown away at the musicality, the singing, and the songs themselves. I think it will be fun for fans of ‘Tickle Me Pink’ to see Sean do his most vulnerable singing, ‘Give 'Er Hell’ fans to see my softer side, and to see Kira just shred up the cello and sing her a** off!

The band is currently working on some self recorded demos and already has some interest from national producers. They are hoping to record a full album in the next few months.

If you want to check out Talisker Skye after The Taste Of Fort Collins they have another show happening June 18th at Road 34 in Fort Collins.  They’ll be playing with ‘Nautical Mile’ and ‘Cure For Madeline’. They will also play with ‘Give ‘Er Hell’ at their annual “Freedom Fest Show” on July 2^nd at Hodi’s Half Note in Fort Collins.  More summer shows are in the works, but not confirmed yet.

We are always at the bar after [we play] and ready to chat with anyone because we are all very excited about this new thing. I think people are going to love it and really get to see something fundamentally intimate and genuine.

I’ve known Dubs for a long time, and you’d be hard pressed to find anyone with more passion for music than him. He and his 'Talisker Skye' band mates should kick off The Taste Of Fort Collins with a bang on Saturday, don't miss 'em!
