If you're looking forward to season 5 of HBO's Game of Thrones you may be disappointed to hear that 2 of it's most popular characters will not appear in Season 5.

One of the reasons fans of the original books have been so cool with the major deviations 'Game of Thrones' made from the novels has been the direct involvement of author George R.R. Martin. As a producer and writer on the series, he's been present to give his blessing to the showrunners and wag his fingers at aggressive fans, but not this year. Martin will be sitting out 'Game of Thrones' season 5 altogether to finish writing the sixth book in the series, 'The Winds of Winter.'

HBO's breakout 'True Detective' had long established that any potential season 2 would pick up with new story and a new cast, though we were still surprised to learn season 1 director Cary Fukunaga would leave the series behind as well. And while fans anxiously await casting news, 'True Detective' season 2 may pick up its next Oscar-winner in 'Exorcist' director William Friedkin.

It amuses us to no end that HBO's forthcoming period rock and roll drama from the likes of 'Boardwalk Empire' Terence Winter, Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger still hasn't settled on a title, yet continually expands its cast to biblical proportions. Joining Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde and Ray Romano today are Mick Jagger's own son James, comedian Andrew "Dice" Clay, a 'Wolf' of Wall Street, and many more.

While we were excited for the last 'Girls' season 4 casting announcement of 'Community' vet Gillian Jacobs, it was somewhat tempered by the news that her stay might prove to be less permanent than we hoped. Though, the fourth year for HBO's Lena Dunham dramedy added another departing NBC vet for balance. 'Parenthood' vet Jason Ritter will put in a season 4 appearance for 'Girls,' as well, but as whom?
