A street race in Westminster involving two vehicles has left one woman dead. The incident occurred at approximately 9:10 pm at the intersection of 105th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard according to the Denver Channel.

The 21-year-old woman was struck by one of the two racing vehicles while making a left turn from northbound Sheridan Boulevard onto 105th Avenue. The officer that arrived on the scene found the victim unconscious and not breathing.

The officer performed CPR on the woman until she was able to be transported to a local hospital for treatment. Sadly, the woman died from her injuries at the hospital.

Both of the street racers involved in the race that resulted in the crash stayed on the scene and were arrested. Both suspects, Shimpson Huynh, 30 and Adrian Lau, 20, have been charged with vehicular homicide and reckless driving.

the Denver Channel reports that Huynh, a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps as the driver that crashed into the victim.

Colorado State Patrol and other Colorado law enforcement agencies have been working on curbing street racing in Colorado. This year, there have been more than 2,700 reports of street racing submitted to ReportStreetRacing.com. More than 100 gave come from the Westminster area.
