It’s never too early to start thinking about Spring racing season. Seeing as Fort Collins is one of the most active cities in the country, it only makes sense to inform you all about the top upcoming races.

First off, we’ve got the ‘Run Fur Fun 5K’ on March 2nd! This race takes place at New Belgium Brewing and offers free beer, live music, and pancakes from Snooze after the race. They’ll also have have sponsor booths for you to peruse, not to mention that you can bring your furry companion along with you during the race. All of the proceeds will benefit Animal House Rescue and Grooming.

Up next, we have the ‘Sharin’ O’ the Green 5K’ coming up on March 16th. This is not your typical 5K, as you are encouraged to show off your best Irish attire and enjoy some free beer from O’Dell’s to reward yourself after the race. In addition, all proceeds will go to Partners Mentoring Youth.

On April 7th we have the ‘Flying Pig 5K,’ which benefits  Foothills Gateway, Inc. Family Support Services Program (FSSP), an organization that provides services and support for families who have a family member with intellectual/developmental disabilities. This race takes place at Spring Canyon Park and runners 10 years old or younger get to race for free. It’s a perfect way to spend a Sunday with family and friends.

This next race may require a little more preparation, but it offers some of the most stunning views of Fort Collins. The Horsetooth Half Marathon is 13.1 mile race that starts at Drake and Overland and then finishes at New Belgium Brewing. This is a challenging course, but newbies and pros alike are welcome to join in.

Lastly, we have the ‘Fast and the Furriest 5K.’ This race is put on by Colorado State University’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program, so you can support your friendly neighborhood rams while breaking a sweat. This is a family and dog-friendly race that benefits animals in need of emergency or life-saving treatment. And if that isn't motivation enough, they also encourage racers to create teams and dress up in your best costumes. Costumes and dogs are the perfect combination for a fun day.
