So Far, Colorado Schools Reopen Without Spike in COVID-19 Cases
Colorado schools are reporting the good news: that despite reopening in August, there have been no signs of a spike in overall COVID-19 cases.
According to the Denver Post, though, this isn't a good time to celebrate. According to the paper, "It’s uncertain what direction the virus will take, though, as more large events are allowed, additional schools reopen and winter approaches."
Boulder County is a good example, with the largest amount of cases in early September (60 reported in one day, due to large student gatherings).
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported a general plateauing of coronavirus cases in our state, with hospitalizations stable and deaths not showing a clear pattern. This is good news, with kids returning to learning both in-person and online.
However, we're still waiting for data regarding spikes over Labor Day Weekend or decreases thanks to the cold weather (and everyone being shuffled inside), so we'll need to keep wearing our masks, washing our hands, and staying safe.
