Quick Texters Compete in US National Texting Championship – Daily Dose of Weird [VIDEO]

It seems like most people text with their phones more than they talk on them these days. I text all the time, and I’m not always sure why. It takes more effort to type out thoughts on a tiny keyboard, rather than just say them.  Plus, it’s impossible to know someone’s inflection and tone of voice through text. If I had a dime for every misinterpreted text I’ve dealt with, I’d have…well, a whole lot of dimes; at least ten or 20 bucks worth! But some folks are so good at texting, they are actually winning huge cash prizes for doing it!  Read on to see what I mean.

11 of the best texters in the US recently went head-to-head in the U.S. National Texting Championship in New York City.  The prize?  A giant check for $50,000!

I’m not sure what surprises me more: the fact that this competition exists, or the fact that the prize is such a huge chunk of change!
