A Fort Collins man is in the Larimer County Jail following a Friday (Jan. 15) altercation.

According to a press release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 4:15 a.m. near North Frey Avenue in Fort Collins, when Joseph B. Baca, 28, allegedly attempted to assault a woman inside of a residence.

Two other men then tried to stop the assault, when Baca reportedly pointed a handgun at them.

By the time officers arrived, Baca had fled the scene. Police later found him in a field and took him into custody around 5 a.m.

Baca is currently facing multiple charges, including Menacing, Possess Dangerous Weapon by Previous Offender, and Possession of a Weapon While Under the Influence.
