It goes without saying that you should never drink and drive. And this weekend police are making sure people aren't driving under the influence this weekend.

From Friday to Monday morning police are adding extra efforts to stop intoxicated people from driving.

Larimer County Sheriff, Fort Collins Police, Estes Park Police, Greeley Police, Loveland Police and Colorado State University police are among the many police departments that will be adding extra patrols over the holiday weekend.

“Last year during the same enforcement period, there were 424 arrests and four fatalities statewide,” said Colorado State Patrol Chief Scott Hernandez,“This year, law enforcement will continue to be out on the roads to protect lives. Be forewarned, you will get caught if you make the dangerous decision to push your luck and drink and drive.”

Fort Collins Police will put a primary focus on the Old Town area while Loveland PD will pay extra attention to the 287 corridor.

Stay safe on this holiday weekend.
