We all complain about the weather now and again, but folks in Phoenix, Arizona might have just one-upped most of the world. A monstrous dust storm roared through Phoenix last night, delaying flights, causing power outages, and looking like a scene from an apocalyptic, end of the world movie.

The AP reports that the massive dust cloud, also known as a "haboob," was around 5,000 feet when it arrived in Phoenix, but radar data reveals that it reached heights anywhere from 8,000 to 10,000 feet high prior. The storm appeared to be around 50 miles wide in some areas, KSAZ-TV reported. The dust storm originated in Tucson, and was a part of Arizona's monsoon season. [Huffington Post]

Think about that, giant dust clouds 10,000 feet sandblasting a major metropolitan city.

The story above links to CNN which has some pretty dramatic footage of the storm, and I found the video below on YouTube. It is absolutely amazing! It doesn't even look real; more like it should be in a Michael Bay movie or another remake of 'The Mummy.'

Imagine if you saw that on the horizon headed towards Ft. Collins. Yikes.
