I was never really in to hockey when I was young, but then the Colorado Avalanche moved to Denver and Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Patrick Roy, and others all became household names. (After we all learned how to properly pronounce Roy's last name, of course.)

And now Patrick Roy is back with Colorado as their new head couch and vice president of hockey operations.

This was just Tweeted by the Colorado Avalanche:

COACH ROY: The #Avalanche has reached an agreement in principle w/ Patrick Roy to become the franchise's Head Coach/VP of Hockey Operations.

Welcome back Patrick! Good luck, and I hope you can help bring the Stanley Cup back to us again!

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the organization has reached an agreement in principle with Patrick Roy to become the franchise’s Head Coach/Vice President of Hockey Operations. Due to the Memorial Day weekend, the Avalanche will hold a press conference next week in Denver to formally introduce Roy.

Are you excited to see Roy in his new role with the Avs?

Here is one of my favorite Roy moments...when he took on Chris Osgood in a good old-fashioned goalie brawl.
