Over a Million COVID-19 Vaccines Given in Colorado So Far

It's been two months since the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Colorado, so here's a look at the distribution progress.

According to Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, as of Tuesday, February 16, over one million doses had been given to Coloradans. Colorado's population is around 5.8 million, however this doesn't mean one million people are now vaccinated because, as we know, it takes two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for it to be fully effective.

But, it is considerable progress. Colorado is still in Phase 1A and 1B, meaning high-risk healthcare workers and individuals over the age of 65, first responders, and now teachers and childcare workers, too.

As of February 16, over 300,000 Coloradans had both doses of the vaccine, while over 700,000 had at least the first dose. That's a total of 1,019,052, CDPHE tweeted.

Right now, Colorado's positivity rate has been below five percent for over two weeks, at 3.69 percent as of February 16. Only 29 percent of ventilators were in use at that time, along with 73 percent of ICU beds.
