A breed of dog that gets a bad rap gets a day of celebrations in Northern Colorado! Denver may have outlawed pit bulls in their efforts to control the horrible act of dog fighting, but Northern Colorado is trying to change that bad rap that has been bestowed upon this breed by the selfish and disgusting behavior of people that do this to an animal. Not many things get me upset as much as dog fighting or animal fighting in general. This is why I side on the fence that believes the dogs have an unfair reputation that was not caused because of the dog itself but because of the people in control of and the abuse of the dog. If it falls into the wrong hands, it will be used in the wrong way.  That's why I am so excited that there is an event like this.

The Humane Society of Weld County is Celebrating Pit Bulls this Saturday, October 24th, in Evans City Park (3929 Golden Street) from 1pm-3pm. All dogs are welcomed to join and participate in the fun activities they have planned. What's even more encouraged is dressing your dog up in costume for the doggies costume contest, which is worth just going and looking at all the costumes! They will have dog sport demonstrations as well and a photo booth! If you haven't seen all those pictures yet of dogs in photo booths, you are missing out! It's such a creative and hilarious take on getting shelter dogs adopted that human societies across the country are doing.

Come out and have fun while supporting the local animal shelter and showing support for anti-dog fighting and the pit bull breed! Also, remember to adopt a shelter dog!
