Northern Colorado Teen Cyclist Injured After Hitting Semi Truck

A 14-year-old cyclist was injured Tuesday (August 23, 2016) morning after hitting a semi-truck and almost getting run over. According to the Coloradoan, the unnamed cyclist was distracted while riding near 10th Street and Welch Avenue in Berthoud. The cyclist was riding south in the northbound lane of traffic, when they hit the semi near the back axle when it the truck was turning right. The teen would have been run over if the driver of the truck did not stop immediately. The teen was transported to the hospital, suffering from serious non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not cited, however, charges may be filed against the teen.
