It's going to be a rough week for nighttime travelers along Highway 34 in Loveland, as they'll be shutting the highway down at Rocky Mountain Avenue.

Clearly, closing a portion of Highway 34 during nighttime hours, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning, is the best way to do something; but for four nights during the week of August 23, 2021, the area just west of I-25 is going to be a nightmare.

It's unclear what exactly the City of Loveland needs to do at this tiny stretch of the highway, but here we are; it's going to happen. Detours will be in place; brace yourself if you're needing to head eastbound.

They'll work on westbound lanes first, on Monday night and Tuesday night, concluding at 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Eastbound lanes will be worked on Wednesday night and Thursday night, concluding at 5 a.m. on Friday, August 27.

The Westbound Detour

The westbound detour will take you onto Rocky Mountain Avenue using the little exit that exists, going north to the first roundabout, then coming back south to exit back onto the highway. If that is the only way you'll be affected by the closure, consider yourself lucky.

The Eastbound Detour

This one sounds nightmarish, for sure. Eastbound travelers will exit Highway 34 onto Rocky Mountain Avenue, taking it north all the way to Crossroads Boulevard to get onto southbound I-25 to exit again onto eastbound Highway 34. Yikes.
