Being a sixth-round draft pick for the Indianapolis Colts is no reason to go all 'Ron Burgundy', but safety Jon Boyett got drunk and decided he was too big of a deal to be arrested after being denied entrance at a nightclub.

I'm pretty sure the phrase, “You can’t arrest me, I’m a Colts player,” was one of many reasons the team decided to part ways with the young man.

According to CBS 4, Boyett was arrested on public intoxication and other charges after a run-in with police outside a nightclub in downtown Indy. He was drunk enough that bouncers wouldn't let him in a club and he started a ruckus. When police tried to arrest him he tried to run. They caught up with him and that's when he told them just how "important" he was.

He was wrong though, despite the fact that he was, indeed, a professional football player, police he no problem putting him behind bars.

Look, if I were a sixth-round draft pick, with two bum knees, I would be sitting in a weight room trying to rehab and thanking my lucky stars that someone was paying me to play a sport for a living. Boyette thought otherwise, apparently.

A day after his arrest the Colts waived him from the team.

I would say they made a wise move for two reasons:

First, no one with that kind of selfish, reckless, ego needs to be idolized as a star athlete. Second, if you plan on being a defensive back in the NFL, I'd at least think you could outrun a couple of city cops.
