It's one of the most prestigious eating contest around — if that can be said about ANY eating contest. On the 4th of July, you could be competing for glory.

It's Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. It's a mouthful, for sure. It needs to be, to match what competitors will have to endure at the event.

Imagine thousands of people watching you at Coney Island as you shove dog after dog after dog into your gullet, going for the win and the glorious Mustard Belt.  To be in the big contest, though, you do have to qualify at a smaller event. I'm full just thinking about doing TWO hot-dog eating contests.

Denver's qualifier, according to 9News will be at Coors Field on May 11, 2019. Open to men and women, it'll happen before the Colorado Rockies take on the Padres.

Keep in mind that in 2018, the male champion, the famous Joey Chestnut finished 74 hot dogs in the allotted time, and the female champion, Miki Sudo finished 37.
