Man Pulls Sword on Security Gaurd- Say “What!?”

Apparently Washington state has a thing for swords. If you remember a while back a guy was attacking people with a light saber and now this story. A man was apparently shoplifting at a Fred Meyer and when a security guard approached him he pulled a 2-foot samurai sword out and started waving it at the guard. Everyone is ok but, the suspect got away. He was trying to steal some boots and some alcohol. My question is, who takes a samurai sword to a store and plans to use it in a shoplifting scheme?
