Larimer County Sheriffs were called to the KOA campground due to a disturbance involving a man who was threatening campers and security guards with a baseball bat. According to the Coloradoan, authorities responded to the call to the campground located on North Taft Hill Road a little after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night (August 4, 2016).

When they arrived, authorities arrested 68-year-old Bruce Lichtenberger. He is being accused of "threatening and attacking" campers and the campsites security guards with a bat. While Lichtenberger was being taken into custody, he allegedly attempted to bite and kick deputies while they were putting him in a patrol car. During the incident, 68-year-old Janice Lichtenberger was also arrested when she allegedly tried to interfere and hit and officer with a flashlight.

Both are in custody at the Larimer County Detention Center, with Bruce being charged with suspicion of felony menacing,

third-degree assault, and resisting arrest, while Janice is being charged with second-degree assault on a peace officer and obstruction.
