We’re hardly back into standard time, with darkness falling earlier and earlier, and I’m already craving the bright lights of the holidays.

Fort Collins, Colorado, got a bright jumpstart with its Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony on Nov. 1. The nights will stay aglow through Feb. 14.

Loveland joins right after Thanksgiving with three holiday scenes.

Loveland’s downtown Festival of Lights marks the holiday season from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22.

The annual event celebrates the lighting of Fourth Street with live music, entertainment, a holiday market, carriage rides, Santa and more.

The Festival of Lights grows even larger this year with the addition of Floats on Fourth. The two-block expansion features a stationary parade of floats parked along the street from Washington to Lincoln.

Attendees can “parade” down the middle of the street and enjoy the floats up close.

Marching bands, dancers and entertainers will move through the crowd in an immersive, parade-like fashion.
