Longmont Could Restrict Hospital Treatment of Weld Residents
The Mayor of Longmont, Brian Bagley, wants to restrict the city's two hospital's abilities to treat residents of Weld County while Weld County Commissioners are refusing to enforce Colorado's COVID-19 response orders.
Bagley has told Longmont city staff to prepare an ordinance making it illegal for Longmont's hospitals to provide medical services to any resident in a county or municipality where the elected officials have refused to comply with emergency orders from the Governor. Bagley did not specifically name Longmont United Hospital or UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital in the email. However, these are the only two hospitals in Longmont.
According to the Times-Call, Bagley wants the ordinance on the agenda at the next Council meeting on December 1.
