A project that began last winter with a budget of $4-million will officially open for riders, walkers, and runners. The Long View Trail that connects Loveland and Fort Collins is about a 4.5 mile trek that is already being used, thought the ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies happen on Saturday, August 17th at 10am. The celebration will happen at Sunset Vista Trailhead.

According to the Coloradoan, the process for the trail began in 2014 when Loveland purchased the Sunset Vista Natural Area. But, this isn't the first paved trail connecting Loveland and Fort Collins. The Colorado Front Range Trail opened this past November and runs 2 miles between Carpenter Road near Lemay and then connects with Loveland Recreation Trail near Boyd Lake State Park.

As Kelly Smith, the park planner for the city of Loveland told the Coloradoan, "These two trail projects have cemented our partnership."
