Ladies and gentleman -- we have a new world record! Okay, it's only for how far a paper airplane can fly, but tossing a sheet of paper 226-feet and 10-inches is pretty impressive. So impressive, that it broke the previous world record by nearly 20 feet. Check out the video below.

Judging by the excitement of the 'announcer', the jumping up and down, the shouting and cheering -- you would think this guy just won a playoff game or created world peace. Everyone has their 'thing' I guess. Good for him.

The plane was tossed by Joe Ayoob, a former quarterback that played college ball for Cal and in the Arena Football League for three years. he now works for Anchor Brewing Company in San Francisco. All that is waiting now is verification from the folks at Guinness World Records to make the record official.

The plane was designed by John Collins, a producer at KRON-TV in San Francisco, who's designed airplanes since childhood and also has studied the Japanese art of paper folding, origami. Collins, known as The Paper Airplane Guy, said he has been pursuing the record in earnest for three of four years. He's studied aerodynamics, trajectories and the all-important verification process for Guinness World Records. -ESPN
