An announcement came down in the morning hours of June 19, 2025, with news that the historic Federal Theatre is set to reopen as a concert venue this September.
History of Colorado's Federal Theatre
The Federal Theatre at 3830 North Federal Boulevard in Denver first opened its doors as a movie theater back in 1923. The theater served as a movie house for quite a few years and was even remodeled in 1948 by Charles D. Strong, a man known for his Art Deco style.

However, the theater closed its doors in the 1970s and sat vacant for some time before reopening as Victory Outreach Church while still giving the appearance of a retro movie theater on the outside.
The Future of Colorado's Federal Theatre
The Federal Theatre was recently purchased by Andy Happel and Peter Ore, the owners of Denver's Oriental Theater as well as the South Broadway music venue HQ and, as the pair is known to do, will be given a sort of facelift before reopening as a music venue this September.
The new venue will have the capacity to accommodate roughly 655 people and its new life will likely prove to be the product of serendipity as when the Victory Outreach Church decided to leave the building in January of 2023, they immediately reached out to Happel and Ore to offer the space to them.
