Psychedelic Products Destroyed After Being Sold Illegally at Colorado Retailers
In 2022, Colorado voters passed Proposition 122, effectively decriminalizing certain psychedelics, including psilocybin, the active chemical in psychedelic mushrooms, for medicinal purposes.

However, it remains illegal to sell any product containing the chemical, as well as many other psychedelics, including synthetic versions of this chemical.
Recently, inspectors discovered that numerous businesses in Colorado were, in fact, selling products containing these types of psychedelic chemicals, and the businesses are now facing fines and potentially other serious consequences.

Denver7 has reported that these types of psychedelics were being sold at six different retail stores, including smoke shops, gas stations, and convenience stores in Denver. Some of these retailers have been identified as Myxed Up Creations, Broadway Smoke Shop, and King’s Smoke and Vape.

The products, which allegedly did not disclose that they contained psychoactive chemicals on the labeling, included chocolate bars and gummy candies from the PolkaDot brand.
What Happened to the Products Seized in Colorado?
Once it was determined that the psychedelic products were being sold illegally, the health department ordered retail workers to destroy the products by opening the packaging, crushing them, and pouring bleach onto them, a process eerily reminiscent of a controversial story involving a Denver-area food truck late last year.
