For many people, it’s absolutely a welcome change from what has become some pretty hot summers here in the state.

There’s even times when we get some snow on the Front Range as well.

According to a report from the Farmers’ Almanac, this fall was even expected to be downright ‘frigid’. They also predicted that we were going to be in a wet autumn as well, meaning the chance of seeing early snow.

However, if you’ve been outside at all over the past few weeks since autumn officially started, you’re probably wondering where these conditions went wrong.

Here’s the thing about this fall so far; it hasn’t really felt that different temperature-wise than the summer.

Yes, it definitely has been cooling down at night, meaning we’re able to get the nice and brisk autumn air in the mornings and evenings.

Once we hit the middle of the day, however, it’s pretty consistently been in the mid to high 80s every day.

Personally, I can only recall one day since fall officially began that was below 70 degrees.

Recently, though, it’s been made pretty clear that these conditions are definitely not normal. In fact, it’s been getting worse throughout recent years.

Not only has it been hot, but extremely dry as well. Agriculturally speaking, it means less fall crops are able to grow. Wildfire risks have also increased.

When Will it Cool Down in Colorado?

If you’ve looked at a recent forecast, you’ll probably notice that this weather is still expected to stay around for at least another week.

In general, though, this overall trend could mean that instead of October being the start of autumn weather, we’ll most likely start seeing it in early winter in Colorado

So for this year, and for the foreseeable future, get ready for October to be a bit of a warmer month.
