Popular Colorado Weed Chain Suddenly Closing All Locations
For better or for worse, Colorado has been known by many as the “weed state” ever since it legalized medical marijuana.
In some cases, that’s not really the best distinction.
For example, a synthetic cannabinoid that’s going around Nigeria called “Colorado” has been giving people seizures and has caused at least one death.
However, it also means that if you’re into smoking weed, Colorado is probably the best place for you to be in the United States.
With that, many different respected and popular dispensaries have popped up.
Unfortunately, it seems like one of the most popular chains will be completely shutting its doors very soon.
Green Dragon Closing All Colorado Locations
Along the Front Range, Green Dragon has become a popular place for people to get both their medical and recreational pot.
It’s a company that is based in Edgewater, Colorado, and also produces marijuana products themselves.
Currently has 17 different locations in the Centennial State. Interestingly, it also has 39 locations in Florida as well.
However, it has been reported that not only will Green Dragon no longer operate out of Colorado anymore, but it will close all of its locations in the state by the end of the year.
All 59 employees in Colorado were given WARN notices stating that everyone would be laid off by December 31st.
Why is Green Dragon Completely Closing in Colorado?
Green Dragon got its start here in Colorado, but it currently is not technically owned by a company that is based here.
While the Green Dragon headquarters are here, the company merged with a weed delivery service called Eaze Technologies in 2021, which is based out of California.
Earlier this year, Eaze, and by extension Green Dragon, was bought by a billionaire named James Henry Clark.
It turns out that all the company’s assets had been foreclosed back in August, and Eaze’s CEO, Cory Azzalino, blamed issues within California’s problems with its cannabis market being the contributing factor.
It doesn’t help that marijuana sales have been down in Colorado this year as well.
