Sure, we’ve got some places like Aspen that may take up a lot of the attention, but there’s so much more to do. 

Of course, you can go to theme parks like Elitch’s or adventure parks like Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, but what makes Colorado truly special is the beautiful towns that are speckled throughout the state. 

In fact, the state is home to 9 of the top 50 best mountain towns in the country. 

However, one of the towns on that list made it into elite company. It was ranked as one of the best family-friendly travel destinations in the entire country.

Breckenridge, Colorado is Named the 5th Best Family Friendly Travel Destination in the US

Breckenridge is a fantastic spot for people of all ages to have a great time, which is why its placement within Yelp’s article naming the best family destinations in the country, made so much sense.

The article notes that there is a ton to do in Breck outside of just skiing. In fact, they name quite a few great options for people looking to get outdoors. 

In Breckenridge, you’ll find a bunch of awesome whitewater activities, like whitewater rafting or kayaking. However, if you want to take it easier, take a nice stroll in a canoe or enjoy a ride on a paddleboard. Or, if you’d like, you can take classes on how to get better at fly fishing.

There’s also plenty of great hikes you can take. However, the amazing mountain biking is a given, since Colorado is considered by many to be the best state for it. 

Finally, Breckenridge has one of the loveliest little old towns in all of Colorado, with lots of pleasant shops and people all around. 

With all of these activities along with it being a short 2-hour drive from Denver make Breckenridge an amazing spot for families to travel.

What Town Got Ranked as the Best Family Friendly Travel Destination?

While Breckenridge feels like a no-brainer, the top destination is actually a bit of a surprise. Yelp gave it to Fredericksburg, Texas. 

They cite the town’s good restaurant scene, museums, family friendly hikes, and wildflower farms as being major factors. Plus, they love their Main Street with its quaint ice cream shop.
