Western Colorado has felt like an oven on full blast since early June, but it's a far cry from the hottest place in America so far this summer. In 2024, some of the hottest temps recorded so far have been 124 degrees in Palm Springs on July 5th, and 120 degrees in Las Vegas on July 7th.

From June 1st to July 29th, Grand Junction has experienced 39 days with temperatures of 95 degrees or higher. While 2024's month of June was much warmer than last year, July has been a pretty close match to the extreme heat of 2023.
