For some Coloradans, any wage increase is better than no wage increase. The way prices have increased over the past four years, every little bit is essential to make ends meet.

In Colorado, the new year will bring a small 2.7% increase to our minimum wage according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment. This follows the 2024 increase of $0.77, bringing the total increase over the past two years to $1.16.

You've probably already done the math. The 2025 wage increase amounts to $0.39. This means workers in Grand Junction and elsewhere in Colorado will earn $14.81 per hour in 2025. A report from Wylee Mitchell at KKCO points out that those working for tips will see their hourly wage go up from $11.40 to $11.79.

Federal Minimum Wage in 2025

By comparison, America's Federal wage has remained the same since 2009. It currently sits at $7.25 per hour according to USA.gov. If you have a job that includes tips, the Federal minimum wage is still at $2.13 per hour.
