Unless you have seen it in person, it can be hard to understand how massive this body of water is compared to the rest of Colorado's natural lakes. Grand Lake sits in Grand County, Colorado, at an elevation of 8,439 feet and is deep enough to swallow some of Denver's tallest buildings.

How Deep Is Colorado's Grand Lake?
The Department of the Interior, the Bureau of Reclamation, and the University of Colorado Marine Science all recognize the depth of Grand Lake to be 389 feet deep.
When out on the lake in a paddle boat or small craft, it seems like an almost bottomless body of water. When compared with Colorado's second deepest natural lake, Lake San Cristobal, with a depth of 90 feet. There is no other natural lake in the state that compares to Grand Lake.
Colorado Things That Fit in Grand Lake
Denver's US Bank Tower on 17th Street stands 389 feet tall, and if placed at the bottom of Grand Lake, the roof would sit just under the surface of the water. The lake covers 507 acres and is surrounded by an alpine environment ideal for wildlife viewing.

Colorado's High Altitude Yacht Club
Grand Lake, Colorado, is home to one of the state's oldest boardwalks. Strolling past the cool shops, restaurants, and art galleries feels like a trip back in time to the days of the Wild West.
You can trace the Grand Lake Yacht Club back to 1901, making it not only the oldest in the state but it is also likely the highest-altitude yacht club in North America.
