Ault, Colorado Dive Bar to be Featured on Online Food Show

'A Unique Little Town' in Colorado, Ault, has a funky little dive bar. That dive bar will featured on an internet food show in 2025.

Legendary Location in Ault Now Home to Another Great Dive Bar

For many, many years, 218 First Street in Ault was home to the Merry Go Round; though it "sounded like" a clothing shore, it was a biker/dive bar. The location is just west of where Highway 85 and Highway 14 intersect, bringing all sorts of travelers to the area.

Everybody loves when an establishment in Colorado gets to be on a big food show; from 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,' to 'Bar Rescue," more than a few bars and restaurants in the state have gotten their share of screen time. Here comes one more: Ugly Pony Saloon & Kitchen in Ault.

218 First Street in Ault, dating back to 1904, has held a bar of some fashion for decades: From Merry Go Round, to The Pour House, to now Ugly Pony. It's fun to think of what the address might hold in 100 years from now. Will it still be a bar?

Ugly Pony opened in 2023 and quickly became popular; Ault doesn't have many places to go for a drink. Then, they added a great food menu, and more and more people were attracted to 'The Pony.'

What Food Show Will Feature Ugly Pony in Ault, Colorado?

In July of 2025, I saw that Ugly Pony began updating their menu options "in advance of a television feature.." So, I reached out about it. Turns out, the show, "America's Best Restaurants," was slated to come by and featured The Ugly Pony like the show had featured Greeley's Litl' Bit bar. In October of 2025, they did just that; they did some filming of one of the hosts enjoying the food and redecorating of the bar that was done.

They'll probably be featuring The Ugly Pony's Chicken & Waffles, and The Big Porker sandwich. Ugly Pony's episode is scheduled to go live sometime in December of 2025.
