If You Love to Cook, Love to Shop, You Know ‘The Cupboard’ in Fort Collins

Running a small business in Colorado can be very frustrating; to succeed for over five decades speaks to how hard work can pay off. It would be hard to imagine Downtown Fort Collins not having The Cupboard.

How Long Has The Cupboard Been in Downtown Fort Collins?

The Cupboard in Fort Collins opened up back in 1972, back when Richard Nixon was the President and 'The Godfather' was on the big screen. The very first item they sold (for $.95) was a pack of three wooden spoons. Imagine how many items that they've sold since then.

Being a man who's not a real "foodie" or into decorating, I've only been into The Cupboard a few times; mostly to find a gift for my Mom or a girlfriend. They were always happy with what I got for them, whether it was a cookbook or a nice coffee mug.

I think if I, myself, can get lost in there for hours, it has to be a near religious experience for those who are really into cooking and food.

I noticed on their website that they do gift registries too; four or five couples were signed up. I think that's a great idea; with the variety of things that they have for the kitchen and home a newlywed couple could really score. I didn't know that they also pay their employees extra if they bike to work instead of using a vehicle; that's commendable and "so Fort Collins."
